Communication is such a critical part in Leadership, that it can truly be a defining factor on whether a company succeeds or fails. Misunderstandings, Assumptions, and simply LACK of Communication are all detrimental to even the best of businesses. In fact, I think it may be THE #1 thing that could make a difference of whether a company succeeds or fails.
I remember stories my other grandfather used to tell of his travels as a Pilot for the US Air Force. He taught me a lot about how a plane flies, and how a "flight plan" is determined and so on. It wasn't until years later that I would reflect on his stories in my memories of him that I started to realize how much flying a plane is like going through life.
As a Leader it is your job to train your team, show them "the ropes" coach them what to do, and more importantly what NOT to do. You teach a new Consultant about Branding, about Gardening, about the importance of Hostess Coaching and how to not "leave money on the table" by implementing a good solid Customer Care Program. You teach her how to Book Parties from Scratch and how to Upsell at a party. You teach her how to BE a Party Plan Diva.
What have you been preaching and teaching... but not doing yourself?
Tonight I went to our "Wednesday Night Supper" at church. I normally do not go on Wednesday nights, but tonight something just told me that tonight I needed to go. I am glad I did - I learned an incredible lesson.
Recruiting is a struggle for many women in Party Plan, often because the opportunity to recruit often knocks very lightly. As a Party Plan Consultant it is your job to listen carefully and understand to subtle clues so you will know who is just making light conversation, and who is wanting to learn more about your opportunity. It is these "green lights" that will help you to become a Remarkable Recruiter.
My favorite movie as a child was Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. As the first full length animated feature in motion picture history, it is still a Classic, and noted as one of the best Disney movies of all time. What I love about really ALL Disney movies is how much of the plot and storyline in these "Fairy tales" can be seen in real life. Check out how Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs can be seen in your Home Party Plan Business.
Effective goal setting happens when we choose goals that we believe we can truly achieve. We keep those goals in front of us, never losing sight of where we want to go in life. The groundwork for effective goal setting starts with these crucial components.
All this month I have talked about Goal Setting and ways to reach your goals. Today however I was thinking about the INNER work that must go on before you can really set out on your Goal Getting Expedition. Here are three tips that you can do to help you move closer toward your goals.

The Holidays are a wonderfully festive, happy time of year... but they can also be the most STRESSFUL time of year! As a Party Plan Consultant, we add ANOTHER layer of stress as things really pick up for our busiest time of year.
I am a huge believer of the Law of Attraction, so when I heard about the Law of Abundance on my local radio station, I was immediately intrigued. Join me this Friday for the New Moon Abundance Check, and let the Law of Abundance begin manifesting wealth in your life!
With the economy in the state that it is in, and dozens of Newspapers and TV Shows recommending the Direct Sales Party Plan Industry, people are coming by the thousands to find which Home Based Party Plan Business is right for them. But how do you know which one to choose? How do you know which one will be a good fit for you?
I am still buzzing from all of the excitement and ideas I received at the Orlando Spark & Hustle, and I am about to just burst with excitement over all of the ideas and tips I will be sharing with all of you starting in June for our 30 Days of Faves. But one of the things that has really stood out for me has been all of the new BBFs I have received and continued to talk to and get encouragement from every single day, and it got me thinking... do you have a BBF?
Are you running a business or a glorified hobby? How do you know? With millions of Home Party Plan Consultants, how do you REALLY determine whether you are just a hobbiest or a true business owner? The answer is simple if you are willing to be brutally honest with yourself, and answer these questions:
I have a great bunch of loyal clients and community supporters, but I find that sometimes I have more doors shut in face then I would if I were with like a jewelry or candle company. There are places I just can not seem to get into because they can't get past the toys. I have started not even mentioning the toys as I sell a whole catalog of other stuff, but people know us by the toys so they say things like "This is a route our business wants to take". I'm getting better at dealing with rejection but it a little discerning. Any suggestions?
When booking parties with people we know or through someone they know we generally don't worry. When we get a call from a complete stranger however, do you have any suggestions? My husband said he wants me to leave the persons name, number and address on a sheet of paper on the kitchen counter. It may sound dramatic but it's a good idea.
I had a party 2 weeks ago, only a few guests but the mother-in-law of the hostess said she would get a few outside orders. I called and she said that she DOES have orders and will mail them in to me. Well, that was two weeks ago, and I still haven't received them! What do I do and how do I keep this from happening again?
You may remember my post a few weeks months ago when I bought a new bicycle to use to help get me in shape for the Party Plan Divas Seminar at Sea. Well, I must admit, ever since I bought it I have been so busy, I have not had the discipline to ride it - until today! Who knew that what was supposed to be a "simple bike ride" could teach me so much!
It seems no matter what I do, I can't get people to book shows. I've tried everything I can think of, but no luck. Also, I never get people to fill out their with list - I overheard someone at a party saying if they fill it out, it will give me a reason to call them! Any suggestions?
So how many of us have had a party booked.. you have spoken to the host... did all your coaching.. and then a week before the party, you call... and call... leave message after message... and don't get a response.. What do you do when this happens?
One of the blessings/Curse to working from home is that door-to-door salesman are hard to avoid. Because I am in sales, and have been in sales for many years, my heart goes out to these guys every time they knock on my door. This week I had two very different experiences of these sales guys that I wanted to share with you.
Recently I received an email from one of my Diva Success Sisters Chapter Founders asking how to handle the "competition" within her Chapter. She had met Consultants from the same Party Plan Companies, and was worried about there being conflict with having more than one consultant of the same company at the meetings. She already had friendships with her existing Members, and was worried they would be upset if she brought in their "competition" to the meeting.
It got me thinking.... do we really HAVE "Competition" in Party Plan? I think not, and here is WHY!
If SUCCESS was to find you right now - right this very moment... would you have the room in your life to let it in? I didn't think so.
So how do you Make Room For Success?
Make no mistake - this is much easier said than done. It requires soul searching, being able to be brutally honest with yourself, and learning the ability to tell others NO when it comes to your life, and your business. Know that in order to bring success into your life, you must "make room" - both figuratively and literally - for it to come in, and have room to stay.
After this weeks Small Talk Six I was reminded how so many of my favorite people are also my favorite authors!! As much as I love a good murder mystery, I also love reading books on Success, Networking Marketing, and just Small Business Strategies in general.
Because I know that time is precious and that there are literally THOUSANDS of books "out there" to read, I wanted to share my list of my Top Ten, and I would love if you would leave me comments with some of your favorite books that you have read that have helped you either in life, or in business.
Everyone hates to fail - or hates the idea of failing. Even as children we are taught that there is nothing much worse than failing at something. Failing a class. Failing to keep your room cleaning. Failing to get picked for the football team. We put such an enormously negative energy around failing, it is no wonder we grow up to fear that word more than any other.
Most people do not realize that you MUST fail in order to succeed. How many times did Thomas Edison "fail" when inventing the light bulb? How many times did Alexander Graham Bell "fail" with the telephone? It is the education that you learn from each failure that brings you closer to your success. So how do you overcome failure?
I am so excited to finally announce our theme for the New Year. Each year Party Plan Divas chooses a "theme" for the year to help keep us focused and motivated. This year I took a tip from Mike, my loving beau, who is an avid poker player. His meaning behind going "All In" on the poker table made me think so much of our industry. You may not always have the "perfect hand" or "pocket Aces" - but you believe you have a winning hand, and with persistence and confidence, you may just get lucky "on the River."
