I remember stories my other grandfather used to tell of his travels as a Pilot for the US Air Force. He taught me a lot about how a plane flies, and how a "flight plan" is determined and so on. It wasn't until years later that I would reflect on his stories in my memories of him that I started to realize how much flying a plane is like going through life.
As a Leader it is your job to train your team, show them "the ropes" coach them what to do, and more importantly what NOT to do. You teach a new Consultant about Branding, about Gardening, about the importance of Hostess Coaching and how to not "leave money on the table" by implementing a good solid Customer Care Program. You teach her how to Book Parties from Scratch and how to Upsell at a party. You teach her how to BE a Party Plan Diva.

Tonight I went to our "Wednesday Night Supper" at church. I normally do not go on Wednesday nights, but tonight something just told me that tonight I needed to go. I am glad I did - I learned an incredible lesson.
Recruiting is a struggle for many women in Party Plan, often because the opportunity to recruit often knocks very lightly. As a Party Plan Consultant it is your job to listen carefully and understand to subtle clues so you will know who is just making light conversation, and who is wanting to learn more about your opportunity. I have a great bunch of loyal clients and community supporters, but I find that sometimes I have more doors shut in face then I would if I were with like a jewelry or candle company. There are places I just can not seem to get into because they can't get past the toys. I have started not even mentioning the toys as I sell a whole catalog of other stuff, but people know us by the toys so they say things like "This is a route our business wants to take". I'm getting better at dealing with rejection but it a little discerning. Any suggestions?
When booking parties with people we know or through someone they know we generally don't worry. When we get a call from a complete stranger however, do you have any suggestions? My husband said he wants me to leave the persons name, number and address on a sheet of paper on the kitchen counter. It may sound dramatic but it's a good idea.
I had a party 2 weeks ago, only a few guests but the mother-in-law of the hostess said she would get a few outside orders. I called and she said that she DOES have orders and will mail them in to me. One of the blessings/Curse to working from home is that door-to-door salesman are hard to avoid. Because I am in sales, and have been in sales for many years, my heart goes out to these guys every time they knock on my door. This week I had two very different experiences of these sales guys that I wanted to share with you.
Recently I received an email from one of my Diva Success Sisters Chapter Founders asking how to handle the "competition" within her Chapter. She had met Consultants from the same Party Plan Companies, and was worried about there being conflict with having more than one consultant of the same company at the meetings. She already had friendships with her existing Members, and was worried they would be upset if she brought in their "competition" to the meeting.
It got me thinking.... do we really HAVE "Competition" in Party Plan? I think not, and here is WHY!

Make no mistake - this is much easier said than done. It requires soul searching, being able to be brutally honest with yourself, and learning the ability to tell others NO when it comes to your life, and your business. Know that in order to bring success into your life, you must "make room" - both figuratively and literally - for it to come in, and have room to stay.
After this weeks Small Talk Six I was reminded how so many of my favorite people are also my favorite authors!! As much as I love a good murder mystery, I also love reading books on Success, Networking Marketing, and just Small Business Strategies in general.
