One of the best parts of hosting the Christmas in July Event is getting to check out all of the amazing products in the Party Plan Industry. This week I got to get my whole family involved while we played Sumology from Sarah Kostusiak and Simply Fun.
SimplyFun is a relatively new Party Plan Business based in Bellevue Washington. SimplyFun Consultants show a wide variety of fun, educational games at their parties, and encourage children to do what they do best – PLAY. “From ABC’s to saying please, children are hard-wired to learn through play.”
Sarah Kostusiak, a former school teacher, became a Simply Fun Consultant as a way to stay home with her children, but still share her knowledge and love for teaching and working with children. She and her team enjoy getting to “play” for a living at home parties, expos, events, and fundraisers.
Since my children are a bit older, Sarah sent me Sumology – a game of math meets crossword puzzles where players are creating equations using the four basic operators of addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. Sounds pretty easy, right? Well, let me tell you – it is harder than you think!
We ended up playing for hours and have laughed about some of the “attempted” equations – and a few times we had to pull out the calculators because we could not agree if they were right. Because there are only 14 “=” tiles you have to get a lot more creative than 2+2=4 because you will quickly run out of tiles!
We have since played several more times – even getting my Father – who has a Masters Degree – in on the action… and he promptly stomped us all – I was impressed. Even Taylor asks to play all of the time now, and has fun counting on her fingers trying to make up her own equations.
I am excited to offer one of my readers their very own game of Sumology from Sarah Kostusiak, Independent Consultant for SimplyFun!
