Why Be Smart When You Can Be Bold? Goal Setting For True Divas

Last week I met with my best friend and business coach Wanda Taylor for our usual “New Years Goal Setting Strategy Meeting.” Every year for as far back as I can remember, she and I have sat down with our new ink pens and new journals and scribbled out some “S.M.A.R.T.” Goals for the New Year. You know the ones – Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely? Yeah, THOSE. Well, after all of these years I can safely say we have reached… umm, maybe three of them. MAYBE.

Top Ten Favorite Vince Lombardi Quotes

I love quotes. I have sticky notes all over my home and office with quotes that motivate and inspire me. My favorite quotes always seem to come from sports Coaches – my absolute favorites coming from Vince Lombardi. Noted as one of the best NFL Coaches of all time (NY Giants, Green Bay Packers, and Washington Redskins) holding a career record of 105-35-6, including the very first (and second!) Superbowl with a win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Who knew that what was supposed to be a “simple bike ride” could teach me so much!

Overcoming The Feeling Of Failure

Everyone hates to fail – or hates the idea of failing. Even as children we are taught that there is nothing much worse than failing at something. Failing a class. Failing to keep your room cleaning. Failing to get picked for the football team. We put such an enormously negative energy around failing, it is no wonder we grow up to fear that word more than any other.

Most people do not realize that you MUST fail in order to succeed. How many times did Thomas Edison “fail” when inventing the light bulb? How many times did Alexander Graham Bell “fail” with the telephone? It is the education that you learn from each failure that brings you closer to your success. So how do you overcome failure?
